OVERVIEW:

Austin Monthly, the area’s definitive city and regional magazine, is looking for students and recent graduates who are passionate about design and who are eager to learn the ropes when it comes to editorial design. We offer a positive real world experience, which will give you the chance to show off the creative ability you possess. This is an unpaid internship. The intern duties include the following:

• Composing layouts for some articles and sections
• Setting up files with proper style sheets and master pages
• Inputing copy into design documents
• Provide input to creative team brain storms
• Making sure proper changes have been implemented
• Researching Images for articles
• Retouching, color correcting, formatting and placing images
• Updating the Editorial wall
• Performing administrative duties

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Major in graphic design (very important)
• Strong knowledge of typography
• Close attention to detail and ability to follow direction
• Strong knowledge of Adobe CS3. (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Acrobat)
• Eagerness to learn
• Retouching skills are a plus

Providing your own laptop is a PLUS, but not required
