Journal Pulp
Pulp: The AIGA Austin Journal
Pulp is an AIGA members-only journal featuring a diverse body of writing and opinion that examines design practice, theory, and education. Pulp has evolved from a newsletter into a journal that stimulates thinking about design in Austin. The Community Issue collected articles from local designers to begin a dialogue that questions and identifies our work.
The Community Issue: Fall 2004
Description:
For this issue of Pulp, we asked some of our good friends and neighbors to tell us what community means, and how it applies to practicing design or working with designers. Vendors, designers, photographers, illustrators, and students contributed to this issue, identifying the larger community of local designers.
The Community Issue (660k PDF): Fall 2004.

Submissions
The next issue of Pulp — Winter 2005 — is now underway. Currently we are soliciting articles that address the theme, “Design + Production.” If you would like to submit an article for possible publication, please consider the following questions: What kinds of things — artifacts? objects? environments? experiences? — do Austin designers produce these days? What means of production are employed? Have the means of production changed recently? How is the design process influenced by a change in the means of production? How do designers and vendors work together to produce effective and innovative results?
Submissions must be no longer than 1500 words in length and may be edited by the Pulp staff. Final edits will be submitted to writers before Pulp goes to press. Please include your name, address, email, and phone number so that we can ensure you receive a copy of Pulp.
Image submissions are also welcome, but they must be press-ready. Image resolution must be 300 pixels per inch. File formats must be either TIFF, EPS, PSD, AI, or PDF.
Send all submissions to the Publications Chair, Jennifer Idol. If you would like to help sponsor Pulp, or help out with design and production, please contact the Publications Chair, Jennifer Idol.
